The Bug

This week was a little bit slow because Elder Wilson and I have been sick with the bug that has been going around. We stayed home most of Saturday and Sunday to recover, which are usually the days that we are able to see the most people. We were able to make it to church (not that we had much choice because we live in it) and give our monthly talks. It was very good, and we had 3 of our investigators come to church! There were about 23 people there, which is far better than the 5 people we met on the 1st Sunday we were here! We are on the upswing now, thanks to kind members and priesthood blessings (Don't worry mom).

Church was very good this week. A less active Samoan lady (Lusi) and her boyfriend (Victor) came to church and enjoyed it very much! It was fun to see them whisper with Elder Wilson throughout the day in Samoan. I love to hear Elder Wilson when he gives talks during sacrament meeting! He is always super nervous while he prepares, but when he stands up and speaks to the congregation you can tell that he is a representative of Jesus Christ speaking with the Spirit.

We had a very good lesson with one of the Samoan girls who came to church a while ago named Emmy. Her sister Fagasa was there and told us that she is actually a member! She just hasn't been to church in 10+ years. We had a good lesson with them and talked about the sacrament and the Book of Mormon. We will be going over for dinner this week. Many of the people we have been talking with say that they haven't ever met the missionaries up here before. Its because so many people work all the time! It's cool to really see the Lord place people in our path, and direct us to them.

Its transfers time and I just found out that Elder Hixson, my little boy (meaning I trained him), is on his way up to Barrow! As his 2nd area! He'll do great up there, and he's going to grow, really fast! It's cool to see where past companions and friends are sent to!

Love you all! Hope all is well!
Elder Gullerud
